{"id":806,"date":"2015-11-22T01:59:18","date_gmt":"2015-11-22T01:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/?p=806"},"modified":"2015-11-22T08:22:29","modified_gmt":"2015-11-22T08:22:29","slug":"epic-planning-with-onenote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/?p=806","title":{"rendered":"EPIC Planning with OneNote"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Whole school programming in OneNote :<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Step 1 &#8211; Introducing the structure and the concept of EPIC Planning<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I have been on my &#8216;progamming in OneNote&#8217; journey for about 12 months &#8211; ever since I realised how\u00a0powerful\u00a0programming in OneNote can be (See original Post\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/general\/onenote-deconstructing-programming\/\">Deconstructing programming with OneNote<\/a>). <\/em>This knowledge was too good to keep to myself so throughout the year I have been testing, troubleshooting, brainstorming with a few staff members and on Monday (23\/11\/15) we launch our &#8216;EPIC Planning with OneNote&#8217; initiative\u00a0school wide!<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, all grades will be involved in <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">EPIC<\/span> (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">E<\/span>verybody <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">P<\/span>articipating<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> I<\/span>n <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">C<\/span>reative)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Planning<\/span><span style=\"color: #808080;\">.<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> EPIC Planning is the <strong>process <\/strong>with\u00a0a &#8216;grade program&#8217;\u00a0being\u00a0the<strong> product.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div>I believe consistent \u00a0language matters. I will be using the following terms when discussing this initiative:<\/div>\n<div><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><b>EPIC Planning<\/b>\u00a0&#8211; \u00a0Everyone Participating In Creative Planning. \u00a0 \u00a0This refers to the process &#8211; planning, being creative, everyone involved.<\/li>\n<li><b>Grade Program<\/b>\u00a0&#8211; This is the actual product that comes from our EPIC Planning. It is stored in Office 365. Staff have access to the OneNote program file \u00a0for their grade and executive have access to all program files. The program files have been\u00a0named by grade eg Year 4 Program<\/li>\n<li><b>Master Program <\/b>&#8211; This is a section within the Grade Program. All teachers on a grade are responsible for creating this via EPIC Planning<\/li>\n<li><b>Class Program Book<\/b> &#8211; This is a section within the Grade Program. Every teacher has their own class program &#8211; an area to record how they have implemented the master program with changes to suit their cohort. Some teachers may have very little difference between the master program and their copy &#8211; others will record significant changes &#8211; this is where personality and individuality will have a place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-488 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/OneNote-icon.png\" alt=\"OneNote-icon\" width=\"128\" height=\"128\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Master Program:<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>The master program will consist of a Section Group for each of our seven KLAs.\u00a0The sections are colour coded to reflect\u00a0the 4 school focus areas (<span style=\"color: #339966;\"><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Catholic Ethos<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\">Core Curriculum<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Critical &amp; Creative Thinking<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Wellbeing<\/span>)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Religion<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\">English<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\">Mathematics<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Human Society and It&#8217;s Environment (HSIE)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Science<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Creative Arts\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During discussions with staff it was suggested we also include an &#8216;<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Integrated Units&#8217;<\/span> section for grades that wished to integrate some of the KLAs when teaching.\u00a0Each KLA section contains sections for Terms or Semesters.\u00a0Each Term includes a page detailing Outcomes &amp; Skills, a page with a suggested learning sequence and a page of relevant resources. Having the resources on a separate page allows teachers to copy and paste the page directly into their Shared Class Onenote Book Content Library (a\u00a0quick and easy way to provide student access to all resources for the term).<\/p>\n<div><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Class Program<\/em><\/span>:\u00a0<\/strong>each term teachers will copy the Master program into their class program. Outcomes and Assessments must remain the same across a grade however learning opportunities and tasks may be adapted at the class program level to reflect the<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>needs of the current cohort<\/li>\n<li>personal interests and talents of a teacher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/OneNote-icon.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-813 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Onenote-Epic-Program-Star-300x294.jpg\" alt=\"Onenote Epic Program Star\" width=\"300\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Onenote-Epic-Program-Star-300x294.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Onenote-Epic-Program-Star-510x499.jpg 510w, https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Onenote-Epic-Program-Star.jpg 765w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">I am very excited to be finally launching this. My main hope is that<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Staff have a shift in their perception from seeing programming simply as a product (something they &#8216;have to submit&#8217;) to a process \u00a0(&#8216;planning with colleagues&#8217;). Having all documents in one book will take away organisational concerns and allow planning time to be spent on creativity.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">(no more folders, no lists of word docs where noone can remember if it is the latest copy, waiting for a colleague to email the latest file etc etc)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Staff have their program open daily on their computer, with real time changes made and notes recorded. Add a surface pro and stylus and the options are magnified.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Executive have live access to progamming at all times and supervision becomes about mentoring\/guiding and not just &#8216;checking&#8217;. Our executive have great curriculum knowledge and I believe this format will allow it to be shared.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The principal can also contribute learning ideas K-6 from his &#8216;ivory tower&#8217; (his words not mine)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">To enable principal\/executive contribution there is a page at the beginning of each Program Book back called &#8216;Feedback&#8217;.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">I know with change comes anxiety, concern, excitement (I think I have been through most emotions already) so\u00a0we will need to be mindful of our teachers \u00a0and their feelings. Some will cope better than others with change.
