{"id":1436,"date":"2018-08-04T08:11:59","date_gmt":"2018-08-04T08:11:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/?p=1436"},"modified":"2018-08-04T08:31:17","modified_gmt":"2018-08-04T08:31:17","slug":"thinking-dispostions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mrsbarkerstearoom.com\/?p=1436","title":{"rendered":"Thinking Dispostions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <b>disposition <\/b>is an enduring characteristic or trait that serves to motivate behaviour.\u00a0Our disposition defines who we are.<\/p>\n<p>In 2005 at the conclusion of a 5 year\u00a0project\u00a0into\u00a0cultivating\u00a0\u00a0<b><i>thinking\u00a0dispositions,\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Ron\u00a0Ritchhart\u00a0and his Project Zero colleagues developed a set of\u00a0<i>simple strategies for scaffolding thinking,\u00a0<\/i>known as <b><i>thinking<\/i><\/b><b><i>\u00a0routines.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><i><\/i><\/p>\n<p>These\u00a0<b><i>Thinking Routines\u00a0<\/i><\/b>became the core of what we refer to as\u00a0<b><i>Visible Thinking<\/i><\/b><b>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Thinking routines<\/b>\u00a0are designed<b>\u00a0<\/b>to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be easy to remember<\/li>\n<li>be practical<\/li>\n<li>invite a broad range of thinking moves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will find a range of thinking routines on the Project Zero website.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018understanding\u2019 you want your students to develop will influence the \u2018routines &amp; thinking opportunities\u2019 you provide. Therefore you must consider the\u00a0<em>intent\u00a0<\/em>of your lesson when selecting a routine. How do you want your students to think?
